My name is Sahar Asgharpoor, an Iranian artist now calling Denmark home. My passion for art ignited at the age of 15, leading me to study visual arts at university in Iran, where I graduated in 2006. Throughout my career, I’ve explored diverse artistic fields—from illustrating children’s books and designing magazines to animating characters and crafting intricate mosaics. Each of these experiences has shaped my artistic journey, deepening my understanding of creative expression.

In 2021, I embarked on a new chapter by moving to Denmark. Immersing myself in the country’s vibrant cultural and artistic scene was both challenging and exhilarating. This transition sparked a profound transformation in my work, inspiring me to break away from meticulous detail and embrace a more expressive, emotive style that reflects my evolving perspective. Through my art, I strive to connect with others on an emotional level, inviting them to see the world through my eyes.

For me, art is a language that expresses emotions without words.

My earlier works, rooted in realism and hyperrealism, were crafted with meticulous pencil and colored pencil techniques that captured every nuance of light and texture. These pieces were a testament to my dedication to detail and precision. However, as my artistic journey evolved, I sought a new way to convey emotion and inner experiences.

Today, my paintings are a celebration of vibrant colors and textures, achieved through acrylics, oils, and oil pastels. These mediums allow me to move beyond the confines of detailed representation and explore a more liberated, emotional approach. By blending bold hues and dynamic strokes with expressive pen marks, I create works that speak to the heart, reflecting a fusion of color, feeling, and spontaneity. Each piece is a canvas of raw emotion, inviting viewers to connect with the sensations and stories behind the brushstrokes.

The paintings you see here are a reflection of my artistic evolution and the deep, personal journey that continues to shape my work. They embody my desire to merge technical skill with emotional depth, offering a window into the interplay of my Iranian heritage and the new influences I’ve embraced in Denmark.

I hope my paintings evoke a sense of connection and empathy in viewers, inviting them to experience moments of the stories and emotions woven into each brushstroke. Each piece is an invitation to see the world through a different lens and to join me on this personal journey.
